In einem Promotion-Video für sein neues Album Mastermind, sprach Rick Ross unter anderem über die Zusammenarbeit mit Jay Z:

"Our top, number one conversation, our number one topic of  conversation is motherfuckin' music. When you come 'round here, if you talkin' more about anything more than music, you gotta get the fuck out, or we gonna say you talk too much."

Über den erst vor kurzem veröffentlichten Track The Devil Is A Lie sagte der Maybach Music Group-CEO nur:

"Me and Jay Z in the studio, it's not just the beat on loop. We talkin' some shit. We talkin' some shit, nigga."

Außerdem verriet er das Erfolgsgeheimnis des Projekts "Rick Ross & Jay Z", von denen bis jetzt die gemeinsamen Tracks Free Mason, Hustlin (Remix), 3 Kings und The Devil Is A Lie erschienen sind:

"Jay Z and I are 6-0, 7-0 on the joints. It's for the streets. It's the flows, it's the bounce, it's how current and relevant the music is. I think that's what's important when you're sculpting an entire body of work."
