Die beiden Hiphop-Veteranen LL Cool J und DJ Kay Slay wollen LLs erstes Mixtape rausbringen. Das Ding soll den Namen The Return of the G.O.A.T tragen.
Was den Mann der alten Schule dazu bewegt hat, dass schon seit Jahren aktive Mixtapegeschäft zu entern? Er braucht Promo für sein nächstes Album Exit 13 . Ohne Mixtape geht wohl heute gar nichts mehr.
Kay Slay verriet bereits, dass Busta Rhymes unter den Mixtape Gästen sei und dass alle Beats des Mixtapes aus der Klassiker Riege von LL stammen. Der Grund für LL diesen Weg der Promo einzuschlagen sei laut Kay Slay, dass er zurück zu seinem Street Vibe finden wolle.
"LL's got an album coming out, I think he's just aware that he has to have that street presence and make people aware he still is the G.O.A.T. and he can still spit. A lot of people are under the misconception that LL is making those grown-and-sexy records, that he ain't with the street vibe anymore. I think he wanted to step back and let people know he's still the G.O.A.T."
Das Tape wird innerhalb der nächsten Wochen erscheinen.
Kay Slay selbst arbeitet auch fleißig an seinem nächsten Compilation Album und hat dafür Uncle Murda als Gast angekündigt. Für diejenigen die es nicht wissen. Murda und Kay Slays Zögling Papoose haben schon längerer Zeit Beef. Kay Slay jedoch meint, dass die Streitgkeiten inzwischen beigelegt seien.
"At the end of the day, their camp has a lot of individuals that got common sense just like me and my camp. Wasn't nobody gonna benefit from the situation. We already know where situations that spill from music into the streets could go at."
Slays Album darf noch vor Jahresende erwartet werden.
