Im Interview mit dem Rolling Stone gab Eminem einige Details zu seinem kommenden Album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 preis.

Demnach sehe er das Album nicht als Fortsetzung des ersten Teils. Es ginge ihm mehr um den Nostalgiewert als darum, Sequels zu alten Songs zu machen:

"So there's not gonna be, like, continuations of every old song on there or anything like that. To me, it's more about the vibe, and it's more about the nostalgia."

Laut eigener Aussage gab Eminem dem Album aber bewusst den Titel MMLP2:

"Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations. I wouldn't want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs - and just when you think you got it, you listen and you're like, 'F-ck, man! I feel like it needs this or that,' to paint the whole picture."

Auch über die Arbeit mit Rick Rubin, den er mit der Kunstfigur Yoda aus Star Wars verglich, sprach Eminem:

"Getting with him was like, 'Holy sh-t! As many genres of music that he is able to f-ck with, he's like Yoda. I couldn't do it. You sit me there with a rock group, I don't know the first f-cking thing about banging on the drums."

Desweiteren gab er an, dass er bereits jetzt hinter der Deadline liege und das Album auch noch nicht gemixt worden sei, es aber dennoch am 5. November 2013 erscheinen soll.
