Dem Anschein nach soll sich die Crew nach etlichen Beefs verkracht haben und jeder seinen eigenen Weg gehen.
Cam'ron , Mitbegründer der Diplomats , soll den Vertrag seines Kollegen Juelz Santana an Def Jam verkauft und 2 Millionen Dollar kassiert haben.
Nun nimmt Herr Santana , mit bürgerlichem Namen LaRon Louis James , Stellung und erläutert sein Empfinden bezüglich seines "Verkaufs" an Def Jam :
"I was upset about the part of me being 'sold for $2 million'. At times like this, nobody is trying to 'sell' me. I could have come out and said, 'Oh, yeah, Cam got bought out.' But I didn't go that route. They just gotta watch me move. We gonna make it hot."
Nach seinem letzten Studio-Album What The Game’s Been Missing in 2005, mischte Santana nur gelegentlich bei Gastauftritten oder einem Mixtape mit.
Offenbar soll der Grund hierfür sein Kollege Cam’ron gewesen sein, der die Zusammenarbeiten nicht vereinbart und sogar für die erfolgreiche Single Run It feat. Chris Brown eine Abfindung eingeklagt hätte:
"A lot of material on others songs never saw the daylight. I'm just gonna say a lot of big records. I was on a good portion of those records, or asked to be on a good portion of those records that Lil Wayne was on — along with him, not like they asked me before they asked him, or vice versa. I know I was on a good portion of those records, 'cause the I Can't Feel My Face thing. We were pushing that hard. People wanted to get both of us."
Santana scheint nicht nachtragend zu sein und versucht für sich das Positive aus der Situation mitzunehmen:
"I have no hard feelings towards Cam. I tell people I couldn't do business with him. But I will say he gave me the biggest chance I needed. I'm a dude from the 'hood, so the chance he gave me is a chance I needed to never turn back."
Auch in Zukunft können wir mit Santana s Erscheinung im Musikbusiness rechnen, denn seine neue Crew, die Skull Gang , lässt mit Features auf seiner neuen LP Born to Lose, Built to Win von sich hören.
Santana hat aus der Vergangenheit gelernt und nimmt sich vor dem Business jetzt etwas mehr in Acht.
