Der Radiomoderator Peter Rosenberg behauptet, dass Jay Z nur noch wegen Kanye West populär wäre. In der Sendung The Realness  des New Yorker Senders Hot 97 erkärte Peter Rosenberg, dass Jay Z Kanye West bräuchte, um relevant zu bleiben. 

"Jay Z hängt am Rockzipfel seines kleinen Bruders", sagt Rosenberg. "Hier ist mein Punkt. Kanye macht einen Song mit Coldplay. Hier kommt Hova und macht einen Song mit Coldplay. Kanye macht einen Song mit Daft Punk. Was finden wir jetzt? Jay Z ging hin und machte einen Song mit Daft Punk. [...] Was sind die besten Songs Jay Zs in den letzten fünf Jahren? Was haben sie gemeinsam? Könnte es Kanye West sein?"

"Jay Z is hanging on to his little brother's coattails", wie es im Original heißt. "What's really happening with Jay Z? Hov's hot... He aight I guess. But Kanye's ish is more john blaze. Here's my point. Kanye does a song with Coldplay. Here comes Hova doing a song with Coldplay. Kanye does a song with Daft Punk. Now what do we find? Jay Z went and did a song with Daft Punk. And may I ask you a question. Riddle me this, hip hop. What are Jay Z's best songs over the last five years? What do they have in common? Could it be Kanye West? That's right, big brother is hanging on the coattails of the little brother."
