Kürzlich sprach Macklemore mit dem Rolling Stone-Magazin über neue Musik und ein neues Leben.

Vor wenigen Tagen erst gab erstmals neue Musik vom Duo Macklemore und Ryan Lewis. Dort rappte Mack aus der Perspektive eines Tigers in einem Käfig, auf einen Song von Sänger Fences. Jetzt erzählte er, dass er sich wirklich oft wie ein Tier in einem Käfig fühle:

“People are taking pictures of you. They don't even ask you. There's a lack of any sort of privacy. You don't know what that is until you're in that box. I try to go about my life with the utmost gratitude, but there are times when you're like, 'I feel like an animal stuck inside of these bars.'"

Außerdem sagte er, dass es seit seinem Gesicht auf dem Rolling Stone-Cover kein Zurück mehr gebe. Das Gefühl, überall erkannt zu werden, sei irgendwie komisch und so richtig fühle er sich damit nicht wohl.

"Your life will never be the same once you take that plunge. I remember when that issue came out, walking around an airport and seeing my face all over everywhere, and being like, ‘This has changed now. Once you go this far, you can't go back.'"

Im September soll es dann mit Ryan Lewis zurück ins Studio gehen, um mit den Arbeiten an dem großen The Heist-Nachfolger zu beginnen. Material ist wohl schonmal da:

"Ryan's got a lot of beats, I've got a lot of writing. Obviously there's a ton of pressure—it's a sophomore album, and we never thought The Heist would be as big as it was. Now we have to live up to that."
