Music -Sampler Cruel Winter nicht erscheinen soll und das Release wohl nur ein Gerücht war; aktuell seien alle mit Solo-Alben beschäftigt: " I don't think that's happening," he said. "It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo album. So that's what that is. " Zudem gab Common in einem Interview mit Jimmy Fallon an, im Januar eine EP, im April ein Mixtape und im September ein Album veröffentlichen zu wollen. Außerdem erschien am 18. Januar auch der Film Luv : " I'm coming out with an EP at the end of this month that's accompanying the movie Luv, and then I've got a mixtape - the first mixtape I've ever done in my life - will be coming out in April. And then an album in September. "
Davor war Cruel Winter von Q-Tip und Pusha T sowie Big Sean angekündigt worden. Der Labelsampler Cruel Summer stieg direkt auf Platz 2 der Billboard-Charts ein.
