Wie wir kürzlich berichteten, wurde US-Rapper DMX als Kandidat für den Boxkampf gegen George Zimmerman ausgewählt.

Letzterer ist für den Tod des afroamerikanischenen Teenagers Trayvon Martin verantwortlich und erlangte dadurch zweifelhaften Ruhm.

Nun wurde der Boxkampf von Box-Promoter Damon Feldman abgesagt. Auf Twitter begründete er seine Entscheidung mit diesen Worten:

"All you people are right. The George Zimmerman fight is canceled. I’m sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you. I want to thank everyone for the good n bad comments. I’ve made the choice to cancel the fight with George Zimmerman more to life then money.
It was my decision to cancel the George Zimmerman fight it was worth a lot of money to me but people’s feelings meant more to me. I walked away from av million dollar payday with this fight but to be honest, I’d rather be happy and make people happy thank you."

Die Meinungen zu dem "Promiboxen" waren gespalten: Während sich viele Leute erhofften, dass George Zimmerman von DMX eine Lehrstunde erteilt bekommt, sprachen sich wiederum viele Menschen gegen einen Boxkampf aus, weil sie der Ansicht waren, dass durch George Zimmerman und dessen begangene Tat kein Profit gemacht werden sollte.
