Weltstars, die sich in ein Büro-Setting setzen und einfach ihre Songs spielen: So lautet ungefähr das Prinzip der "Tiny Desk Concerts". Die Konzertreihe erfreut sich auf YouTube seit 2008 großer Beliebtheit. Sie ist so etwas wie das authentische Update der MTV-Unplugged-Idee.
In den Räumen des Verbandes amerikanischer Radiosender NPR Music hostet Bob Oiden eigentlich die Show "All Things Considered". In direkter Nähe seines Schreibtisches machen es sich aber inzwischen die Stars bequem und musizieren.
Über die Jahre haben sich auch immer häufiger Rapper nach Washington begeben, um diese besonderen Konzerte zu spielen. Ausgehend von den Aufrufzahlen haben wir sieben Highlights zusammengestellt:Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The Roots enterten 2017 das Bürozimmer mit dem satten Einsatz von Blasinstrumenten. Questlove reguliert an den Drums. Bilal übernimmt das Singen und Black Thought rappt. The Roots spielen ausschließlich "It Ain't Fair", aber der eine Song ist so üppig ausgestattet wie manche Gigs.

T-Pain's fingerprints are all over pop and R&B and hip-hop. He wasn't the first musician to use Auto-Tune as an instrument - he noticed it on a Jennifer Lopez remix, and remembers "Deep" well - but it was, as he says, his style. For a while, in the mid-2000s, he lived at the top of the charts.
Einer ziemlichen Beliebtheit erfreut sich der Auftritt von T-Pain. Ja, das ist der Typ mit dem Autotune-Effekt. Er kann aber auch ohne. T-Pain ist ein wirklich begnadeter Live-Sänger, wie er mit den Stücken "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')", "Up Down (Do This All Day)" und "Drankin' Patna" beweist.

Der mit Abstand meist aufgerufenste Gig unter Hiphop-Aspekten ist der von Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals. 23 Millionen Menschen haben sich bisher angesehen, was hier vor ungefähr zwei Jahren im Büro statttgefunden hat. Dabei singt Anderson . Paak sogar beim Schlagzeugspielen. Seine Setlist besteht aus den Tracks "Come Down" "Heart Don't Stand A Chance" "Put Me Thru" und "Suede".
