Auch die Grammys wurden letzte Nacht vom tragischen Tod von Kobe Bryant überschattet. Dennoch haben sich die Verantwortlichen dazu entschieden, die Show nicht ausfallen zu lassen. Die erst 18-jährige Sängerin Billie Eilish avancierte dabei zur Abräumerin des Abends. Sie gewann gleich fünf der begehrten Preise – viermal in Hauptkategorien (eine Übersicht findest du weiter unten im Artikel). Neben vielen strahlenden Siegern gab es auch spektakuläre Performances und klare Statements zu bewundern. Die Nacht wurde vollends Kobe gewidmet:

Tyler, The Creator wurde für "IGOR" mit dem Grammy für das beste Rapalbum ausgezeichnet. Seine Mom kam gleich mit auf die Bühne und war sichtlich gerührt im Angesicht des Erfolgs ihres Sohnes. Dieser bedankt sich zunächst artig.
Später wirft er den Grammys unverblümt Rassismus vor, wenn es um die Nominierung der Artists geht. Speziell schwarze Künstler und Künstlerinnen würden nicht in den bedeutenden Kategorien berücksichtigt werden. Er selbst hätte sich wohl dem Pop zugeordnet.
