Clifford Harris Jr., besser bekannt als T.I. , wurde im Mai wegen illegalem Besitz von Schusswaffen zu einer Haft von einem Jahr und einem Tag verurteilt.
Seitdem befindet sich der Rapper in einem Gefängnis in Arkansas. Eine Entlassung vor März 2010 wurde nicht erwartet, dennoch kursierten viele Gerüchte durch das Internet, dass der Rapper Anfang nächsten Jahres in ein sogenanntes Halfway House verlegt werden könnte. Diese Halfway Houses sind Anstalten, die Drogensüchtigen oder Straftätern dabei helfen sich wieder in die Gesellschaft zu intregieren. Der Anwalt von T.I. gab in einem Statement bekannt, dass er bester Hoffnung sei, die Entscheidung allerdings erst vom Bundesamt für Gefängnisse, mit Sitz in Washington DC, bestätigt werden müsse: "We are hopeful that T.I. will be placed in a halfway house within the next month or so, which would be about two or three months before his projected release date. We are hopeful for that, we do not have any control over it. The Bureau of Prisons makes that decision entirely on its own, they don't share that decision with the public and they don't share that decision with the defense lawyers, but we are hopeful because we know that T.I. has handled himself accordingly and conducted himself correctly while he has been incarcerated, we are hopeful that the Bureau of Prisons will give him two or three months of halfway house." Dennoch gab sich der Anwalt zuversichtlich und hofft nun auf eine vorzeitige Entlassung seines Mandanten und eine Überweisung in ein Halfway House .
